The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is offering its 35th Citizens Academy session for the fall of 2016. The twelve week course will be held on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Linn County Sheriff’s Office in Albany. This interactive and educational program will begin on September 13 and end with a graduation ceremony on December 13. The atmosphere is fun and informative with classes being taught by Sheriff`s Office team members.
Participants are introduced to each division and specialty team within the Linn County Sheriff’s Office including Patrol, Corrections, Defense Tactics, Traffic Enforcement, Narcotics Investigations, Search and Rescue, Communications/Dispatch, Animal Control, Work Crew, Prisoner Transport and Emergency Vehicle Operation. In addition, we will also host a Sunday Range Day session where students will learn firearm fundamentals, safety, and have the opportunity to participate in live fire exercises.
The Citizens Academy is free and is open to qualified and interested citizens of Linn County.
Applications are online and are due by Friday, September 2, 2016. Class will be limited to 25 students.
