Sheriff Bruce Riley and his staff were out in full-force in neighborhoods throughout Linn County tonight, August 2nd, 2016. Over a dozen different neighborhood watch groups organized events for National Night Out throughout all areas of Linn County.
Community Services Liaison Jim Lepin joined Gate Fire Chief Gary Swanson at a great event hosted at the fire all, with
more than 75 local neighbors gathering for burgers, hot dogs, and neighbors meeting neighbors. Another 25 folks gathered in Mill City, and Sergeant Greg Klein joined another 30 neighbors in a beautiful backyard in Lyons, Oregon.
In Harrisburg, one of our oldest Neighborhood Watch groups met with Support Services Captain Don Messick. He then visited a very active group off Powell Hills Loop. Lieutenant Micah Smith and Lieutenant Craig Vogt treated folks off of Laura Lane to a tour of the Marine Patrol Boat for the Sheriff’s Office.
Captain Paul Timm visited with about 30f neighbors on Riverside Drive, while Undersheriff Jim Yon (pictured “selfie-style”) joined folks off of Berlin Road for root beer floats and BBQ food. Everyone throughout the county was promoting police and community partnerships. Today, more than ever, these partnerships are the thread that holds our communities together.
