Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley reports that Wednesday, October 19th, his patrol deputies participated in the 14th annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail. This national event is held to raise awareness of the problem of family and domestic violence by finding and arresting those with outstanding warrants related to these types of crimes.
Three deputies made thirty attempts to locate those with such outstanding warrants and were successful with four arrests. Deputies also responded to an in progress domestic violence call in Mill City where they arrested one for assault IV. Sheriff Riley said that domestic violence crime is a priority for the Sheriff’s Office every day and are excited to participate in an event such as this, which helps bring attention to these crimes on a national level. Deputies were assisted in this effort by the Linn County District Attorney’s Office.
