Linn County Undersheriff Jim Yon announces the Linn County Sheriff’s Office has received an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as part of a nationwide grant from the restaurant chain Firehouse Subs and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).
AEDs are portable machines used to check heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart if needed. AED training is part of a CPR/First Aid class employees take at the Sheriff’s Office. Undersheriff Yon said the AED unit can cost more than $3,000. The FOP offered the Sheriff’s Office a unit and it was an easy decision to make. Linn County is over 2300 square miles and the unit will be placed in a patrol unit for quick response when needed. This is another tool to help protect the citizens of Linn County.
A portion of all sales of Firehouse Subs go to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and is used to provide lifesaving equipment to first responders. Undersheriff Yon would like to thank Firehouse Subs and the FOP for their generosity and commitment to the citizens of Linn County.
