Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports his deputies are investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred 04/03/19 at about 10:14 p.m. on Densmore Road south of Jefferson Scio Rd in Scio.
The driver of a 1995 Honda Accord was identified as 18 year old Samuel Williams from Jefferson. The vehicle was also occupied by three passengers; 18 year old Michael Ward, 22 year old Daniil Khmelev, and 19 year old Virginia Martin, all were from Jefferson. Mr. Williams was traveling east on Densmore Road and from the investigation it appears Williams failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway on the south shoulder and traveled approximately 100 feet damaging a farm fence and impacting a large oak tree. Alcohol, marijuana, and speed appear to be a factor in this crash.
Jefferson Fire personnel arrived on scene and began treating the injured occupants. Khmelev (22) and Martin (19) were transported by Jefferson Fire Department to Salem Hospital with serious injuries. Williams (18) and Ward (18) were transported by Albany Fire Department with non-life threatening injuries. Williams was later transferred to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.
Members of the Linn County Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) were called to the scene to assist in the investigation. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Lebanon Police Department.
The case remains under investigation.
