An active wildfire is burning in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness Area, and forecasts are calling for increasing winds tonight and tomorrow. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by their Search and Rescue Team and the Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, have been working the last two days to evacuate persons within the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness Area. The Sheriff’s Office has also sent out Emergency Wireless Messages to users within the area, advising them to safely make their way to the nearest trailhead, and evacuate the area.
