Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports on November 15, at 9:50 a.m., his Deputies responded to the area of Evergreen Lane, west of Mill City for a submerged motor vehicle. The caller reported a vehicle was upside down in a private pond.
Deputies located a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee turned over on its roof and partially submerged. Terri L. Kilby, 64, was located deceased in the vehicle. The road near the pond is elevated with a steep embankment leading to the waters edge. The investigation revealed the Jeep rolled down the embankment after turning a corner too sharply near the pond. Kilby was taking care of animals on the property on November 14 and located the following day by another caretaker. Currently, there is no indication of foul play and deputies continue to work with the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death. Kilby’s family has been notified. Deputies were assisted by Lyons Fire Department.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information related to the investigation is encouraged to contact the Linn County Sheriff’s Office (541-967-3950).
