Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports that on 08/23/2022 at approximately 8:13 A.M. the Linn County 9-1-1 Communications Center received a call reporting a vehicle versus pedestrian crash had occurred on Riverside Drive, near Bryant Drive, outside of Albany.
Medic units from the Albany Fire Department, as well as deputies from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, responded and found the crash specifically involved a blue 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche pick-up, which had struck a bicyclist. The rider of the bicycle was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The bicyclist was identified as Kelli Lyn Kennedy, 52 years of age, from Albany. The investigation is ongoing, and the operator of the vehicle is cooperating fully with Linn County Sheriff’s Office Detectives assigned to the case. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The driver of the vehicle is not being identified at this time.
The Multi-Agency Investigation Team (MAIT) was called out to assist with the investigation, and the Linn County Road Department also assisted with road closures and traffic control.
