Priceboro Fire Leads to Evacuations
Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports that at 3:14 p.m. a brush fire broke out on Priceboro Drive east of Harrisburg and quickly moved southeast towards a community on Mt. Tom Drive. Harrisburg Fire Department and Oregon Department of Forestry immediately responded and are jointly leading firefighting operations They are being assisted by other fire departments from Linn and Lane County. Oregon Department of Forestry quickly ordered and received significant air assets to fight the fire. All fire personnel are aggressively attacking the fire to get it contained.
As the Emergency Manager for Linn County, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office has ordered a LEVEL THREE (GO NOW) evacuation for the properties on all sides beginning at 33496 Mt. Tom Drive, east to include Wildwood Estates Loop and south from 33496 to the Linn-Lane County Line. Areas of Mt. Tom Drive from the west boundary of 33496 Mt. Tom Drive, west to I-5 and south to the Linn-Lane County Line are at LEVEL TWO (BE READY) evacuations.
There are approximately 60 homes that have been evacuated. According to the Oregon Department of Forestry – South Cascade, the fire is currently approximately 200 acres in size. The fire has not reached any residences as fire crews continue to aggressively attack the fire to get it contained. At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown.
