WILEY CREEK FIRE HOLDING AT 220 ACRES, MOP-UP PROGRESSES
According to the ODF release below, the Wiley Creek Fire is continuing to be held at 220 acres within the fire lines that resources have been working to create and reinforce. Today, firefighters were able to mop up, or extinguish hot spots, ranging from 10 – 40 feet into the interior of the perimeter.
A significant change in weather, both temperature and wind, is expected to begin overnight, and continue into the early part of next week. A Red Flag Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service. Weather conditions will naturally increase fire behavior, and firefighters have been strategically preparing for that possibility. The fire suppression and containment efforts by fire crews assigned to the Wiley Creek Fire have been to prepare for this upcoming weather change.
Level 1 (Be Ready) and Level 2 (Be Set) evacuations remain in place. For more information on evacuations, visit https://www.linnsheriff.org/.
The closure order for Green Peter Reservoir remains in effect. Please respect all closures so that firefighters can focus on the containment of this fire.
