Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports on January 7, 2025, at 12:48 a.m. Linn County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 call of a structure fire near the Santiam High School in Mill City. The caller reported that an abandoned building near school property was engulfed in flames.
Mill City Fire Department responded to the 600 block of S 1st Avenue and located a structure fire on an abandoned property adjacent to the school football field. Mill City Fire Department, Linn County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Fire Marshall’s Office consider the cause of the fire as suspicious in nature. Deputies will continue to investigate as leads develop and more information becomes available.
